Welcoming Soon: Fr Bob Regan
Greeting St. Benedict Parish Community,
With humility and gratitude, I look forward to serving as the next associate pastor of St. Benedict Parish/School on the northside of Chicago.
My name is Fr. Bob Regan, and I am a priest of Jesus Christ for the Archdiocese of Chicago (ordained 2015). Most recently, I served as pastor for Two Holy Martyrs Parish (2020-2026) and St. Rene Goupil (2018-2020). My first assignment was as the associate pastor at St. Julie Billiart in Tinley Park (2015-2018).
A native of Berwyn, Illinois, I am the last of six children to Jim and Rita Regan. My education history consists of St. Leonard Grammar School, Morton West High School, Northern Illinois University and Mundelein Seminary (2009-2015). I spent 15 years in the newspaper business; mainly on the editorial side but also some advertising experience.
Although considered a “late vocation” to the priesthood, I knew the calling was there as a young boy. Now I like to say that God allowed me to take the scenic route before tapping me on the shoulder around the year 2007. I’m a big believer in Jesus meeting us where we are at but also that we’re open to where the Lord desires to lead us. Standing still is for statues.
My hobbies include history, writing, music, and golf. Unique info: I caddied in two PGA tour events back in the 1980s. Also, I am the originator of the nickname The Burner for former NFL player (Atlanta Falcons) and NIU standout Michael “The Burner” Turner. My dad played running back for the University of Wisconsin (back when they wore leather helmets).
Look forward to seeing you in August and helping each other grow closer to the Lord and to each other. Peace!
Fr. Bob Regan
