RESCHEDULED DATE TBA: Sharing Faith is an Act of Love will not take place on 1.22

In January of 2021, Fr Steve invited us to begin The Bible in a Year series hosted by Fr. Mike Schmitz. I enjoyed how adding one, small, intentional practice to each day, helped ground my days in a faith practice.

Even though helping others grow in faith is my work, growing in knowledge and understanding of our faith is also a personal goal. This goal has enriched me in my own life by bringing peace, comfort and understanding.

With that in mind, as a parent, I often desire ways to influence my family’s faith and faith practice. For me, sharing my faith with my family is an act of love. I want them to experience the same peace and comfort that my faith has given to me.

It was at Notre Dame Vision for Catholic Youth Ministers when I first heard Lenny DeLorenzo speak. His demeanor is inviting and his stories are rich with thoughtful connections and faith. He is witty and clever and insightful. I have heard him address a variety of topics and each time I listen, I am challenged and invited to delve deeper into my thoughts and my relationship with God.

When Lenny was the Director for the Vision Program for high school students, he was able to weave humor, knowledge and wisdom into the way he encouraged the young people in faith.

I admire his ability to guide people in delving into their deeper thought.

In the survey I had shared with parents at our parish, in September, one of the areas parents wanted to help their children grow in, was moral decision making. The best way to help young people make good decisions is to help them know how to listen to God’s voice in their life. Through prayer, in the silence of the heart, we can hear what God desires for us.

One of the ways to encourage a young person’s prayer life is by example and witness in personal practice.

I have invited Dr. Lenny DeLorenzo to affirm, encourage and challenge us with his insights. His suggestions on adding one, small, intentional practice to each day, will help ground us in a faith practice. We will advertise the rescheduled date as soon as possible.

We will gather at 6:00pm, after the 5:00 Mass in Beaven Hall for a simple meal. Following the meal, Dr. Lenny DeLorenzo will share his thoughts and insights using a prayer we are all familiar with, The Lord’s Prayer. His insights will offer a small yet intentional way to add to our prayer practice.

Parents, I invite you to look at this as an investment in helping your family grow in experience and practice. It could also be a great chance to get out of the house post Christmas, have a meal and share in an adult conversation.

Parishioners, grab a partner or a friend and start the New Year doing something totally taboo, talking about faith.

Parents, Parishioners, Young Adults are welcome. Enjoy a light dinner, wine, and the grace found in sharing and listening to stories of faith.
