Introduction to Orthodox Church Music

Wednesday, April 14th at 7:30pm

Because our choirs and ensembles are unable to meet in person, we will host virtual enrichment sessions via Zoom. Each session will cover a topic related to church music. All parishioners and friends of the parish are invited to attend. There is no need to pre-register, and though some topics may be related, each session can be attended as a stand-alone presentation.

This week's session will be lead by Hannah Thompson, and will explore the music of the Orthodox Christian church. Hannah, our SBPS music teacher, has served as both a choral director and vocalist in the Orthodox Church for much of her professional life. She will give an overview of the history, function, and liturgical practices regarding music.
