"As to my Requiem, perhaps I have also instinctively sought to escape from what is thought right and proper, after all the years of accompanying burial services on the organ! I know it all by heart. I wanted to write something different.” - Gabriel Fauré

Fauré’s Requiem is widely regarded as a masterwork of Romantic Period French liturgical music. Though not a complete setting of the traditional Latin Requiem, Fauré’s seven movement work is both transcendent and and inspiring.

The Requiem will be presented in the context for which it was originally intended, the Holy Mass. The Requiem will be sung by the award-winning St. Benedict Parish Adult Choir, accompanied by chamber orchestra. ADMISSION IS FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. Parishioners, friends, guests, and non-Catholics alike are warmly invited to attend. There will be a collection taken up to to help offset the cost of the event.

During the Mass the names of parishioners that have passed away over the past twelve months will be read, and all guests will be invited to take part in a candle-lighting ceremony for their departed loved ones.

The Mass will be broadcast on the parish livestream page.
