PROCESSION OF LIGHT

Sunday, February 2nd at the 10:30am Mass

The celebration of The Presentation of the Lord, also known as “Candlemas”, is exactly 40 days after Christmas. Traditionally, this was the end of the Christmas and Epiphany seasons for many cultures. At the Mass, the assembly is invited to take part in a procession of light, similar to the Easter Vigil, which begins outside the church or at the entrance. As they enter the church, the Canticle of Simeon is sung, reminding us that Christ is “a light for revelation to the Gentiles”.
