Taize Prayer

Prayer in the spirit of the Taize community comes to us from the small town of Taize, France. In the time immediately after the end of World War II, a small group of Christians came together in this small town, with the intent of living together in community and building a space where people may be able to find a place of refuge and reconciliation in the Lord.  The group found its nourishment and reconciliation in communal prayer, which is characterized by the proclamation of and listening to Scripture; contemplative and repetitive singing of simple, singable refrains, and silence to be able to listen for the voice of God. Taize Prayer takes place once a month, usually on the first Friday. A complete listing of dates for Taize at St. Ben's can be found on the Music Ministry Calendar
