Prayer in the spirit of the Taize community comes to us from the small town of Taize, France. In the time immediately after the end of World War II, a small group of Christians came together in this small town, with the intent of living together in community and building a space where people may be able to find a place of refuge and reconciliation in the Lord. The group found its nourishment and reconciliation in communal prayer, which is characterized by the proclamation of and listening to Scripture; contemplative and repetitive singing of simple, singable refrains, and silence to be able to listen for the voice of God. Taize Prayer takes place once a month, usually on the first Friday. A complete listing of dates for Taize at St. Ben's can be found on the Music Ministry Calendar.
